camera

voigtlander bessa I - 1930's
a folding camera that shoots 120 roll film. the negatives are massive and in fact you only get 8 shots per roll. 6x9cm negs.

voigtlander have been making cameras and lenses since 1840.

voigtlander bessa 1

kodak brownie

kodak brownie hawkeye - 1949
a box camera with no focal adjustment, no aperture adjustment and only one shutter speed (and a 'b' setting). it's the original point and shoot.

shoots 620 film but can use modified 120 roll film.

yashica a

camera

yashica a - 1950's
shoots 120 roll film. you open that top piece and look down to compose and focus. both this camera and the voigtlander above use the 'red window' technique when you wind the film. little red window that lets you view what frame you are up to. shoots 6cm square negatives. i think that is something like 4 times bigger than 35mm film.

march, bermuda - 120 film

camera

argus c3 - 1950's
shoots 35mm film, in fact is credited for making 35mm film popular in the united states. called 'the brick' for obvious reasons.

works a bit like a rangefinder. you look through one viewing window to focus, and then the other window to compose the shot.

camera

kodak retina 1b - 1950's
shoots 35mm film. originally designed and made by a german company that kodak bought out in the 1930's. uses a scale focus technique...you have to kinda guess the distance to the subject.

camera

olympus 35 rc - 1970's
shoots 35mm film. rangefinder. one of my favourite cameras. it is super light and has auto and manual control aperture settings. takes incredibly sharp pictures when stopped down.

camera

asahi pentax sp 1000 - 1970's
shoots 35mm film. the only slr i own at the moment. it takes nice, clear pictures and has the best sounding shutter release.

nikon af2020

nikon af2020 - 1980's
one of nikon's early auto focus cameras. my first slr. actually it isn't the actual one, but a replacement. shoots 35mm film and i still use my original autofocus 50mm 1.8 with it. built in motordrive, very cool.

camera

diana - 2010
shoots 120 roll film. is an almost entirely plastic camera. you can get these for about $60. often has light leaks and the lens creates some nice, imperfect shots. has a pinhole setting.

camera

panasonic lx2 - 2008
digital. oddly enough, this is the camera i have owned the longest of the bunch. is a clone of a leica, and has the same leica lens. shoots proper wide-format (16:9) shots as well as 3:2 and 4:3.

camera

ultra wide and slim - 2010
shoots 35mm film. is a clone of an 80's vivitar point and shoot. has a crazy wide angle lens. its basically a one-time-use camera that you can reload and use again. if that makes any sense.
