My Uncle David and Aunt Donna gave me Donna's moms Kodak Retina 1b. It still has 'Mrs Donald Smith' written in the leather everready case. It had sat in a drawer for a long time, but it is in perfect shape. It is from the early 50's I believe.

I thought it might make sense to test it with some Kodak 400 black and white film. The viewfinder and focus control aren't coupled, so you have to match your distance to the subject with markings on the lens...the viewfinder is always in focus.

Of course I forgot to focus it a couple of times. But I think when I got it right, it was super sharp and the photos have a nice dynamic range.
