Trip to York etc. July/August 2011 We stayed right in York (in a converted hospital from 1757) and drove to other towns to see what they were like. Things we did pretty much in the order we visited the towns (although the photos are in the actual order taken). Film shots are done now and will go on the top of the page. The red ones are done using this 'red scale' film. Basically shooting backwards through normal film. York • Walked the City Walls which surround the city • Went to the National Rail Museum • Had a drink at The Black Swan - pub since 1700-something • Looked in the York Minster - the largest Gothic Minster in Europe • Climbed up Cliffords Tower • Had some nice dinners out Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales • Had lunch in a pub and saw some Harleys and nice cars Knaresborough • Walked about the Knaresborough Castle and took some photos of the River Nidd Wetherby • Walked about and took some photos of the River Wharfe and wandered in the town Whitby • Drove through the North Yorkshire Moors to get to the coast • Had fish and chips at Mister Chips • Walked up 199 steps to the Whitby Abbey • Headed out on a pier to look at the beach Harrogate • Looked at an Atkinson Grimshaw exhibit at the Mercer Art Gallery • Walked through the Valley Gardens Sutton Bank and Lake Gormire • Walked out to stand above the Kilburn White Horse which is a 318 x 220 foot horse on a cliff • Had some tea and cake in a tea shop • Watched gliders take off and land at the Yorkshire Gliding Club
